New Year

Just like to wish everybody a fantastic new year and many days of fantastic sea kayaking.
Every success to all those with up and coming expeditions near and to far flung places around the world. My training is coming along with many hours of paddling, running and circuit training, this will be built up over the coming months.
I'm hoping to get up to NW Scotland at least one long weekend a month to train and the rest of my training will be carried out on the NE coast of England.
I will keep you all posted on the blog of where I will be and any body fancying a paddle is more than welcome to join in.
keep paddling  Chris

Reflection

As the year draws to a close and while i'm organising next years expedition its worth while to reflect on the year gone "ever so quick if I may add".
I've been very lucky this year to spend around six weeks sea kayaking on the coast of NW Scotland, spending a large part of that time on the beautiful Isle of Skye exploring the coastline, beaches and the most welcoming people I've had the pleasure to meet.
Helping me hone my skills this year were Gordon Brown of http://www.skyakadventures.com/ and Roland Woollven of http://www.rwoollven.co.uk/ both world class sea kayak coaches, I've learnt vast amounts spending time with them and would like to say thank you. if your up on Skye I recommend you give them a shout or if your paddling around Oban Rolands area.

Technical Kit

I have just purchased a standard horizon hand held VHF radio, with capability of DSC which also displays your latitude and longditude which can be rather helpful for your exact position, a very good aid when everythings gone wrong press the distress button hopefully the coastguard will pick up your lat and long,
max 6w and line of sight
